This year’s Hallowe’en Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, October 30 at the school, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.  Everyone is welcome – parents, grandparents, alumnae, friends and neighbours!  Come in costume, and stay to enjoy a boo-tiful breakfast!  Tickets are $5.00 / person and may be bought in advance at the office or at the door.

This year’s AGM (Annual General Meeting) will take place on Tuesday, November 8, from 7:00 – 8:00 at WMS.  All current members are welcome to attend.

Our first field trip is scheduled for October 26. We will be traveling by bus to Frootogo Orchard on Parkside Drive in Waterdown.

Our new after school pottery classes have been very popular!  The first session is drawing to a close, but a second session is being offered starting in April.  This experience is open to children age 5 and up; children from outside the school are welcome to attend.

The Creativ Works Centre, located on the picturesque escarpment in Waterdown,  provides all students, young and old, a supportive and unique environment where they can realize their creative potential and explore the wonders of art.

 Creative Art Program for kids

Open to children age 5 and up.  Children from outside the school are welcome to join us.

The CreativWorks Arts Programming offers high quality art instruction for kids, taught by a professional artist.  Students have the opportunity to learn and discover, through age appropriate themes, using a variety of materials and techniques. Principals of design emerge under our instructor’s gentle guidance as children reassemble colours, textures and shapes in their own way. Drawing, painting, sculpting and collage combine to make this a complete learning experience.

• Small class sizes allow for individual attention and guidance for students at all levels.
• Materials – Prices include applicable taxes and materials, unless “materials list provided” is indicated.

 Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 9. That’s the morning of a WMS get-together at Lil’ Monkeys Indoor Playground in Burlington.  We are inviting ALL WMS families, past, present, and future (those registered for September 2011).  Tickets will be sold through the office at regular prices. This is NOT a fundraiser.  More information available soon.

On Tuesday, January 18^th, we will be holding a very special Open House, from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.  The Elementary children and the third year casa children (those who are finishing casa this year), will all be invited to participate.

 The students have a chance to present some exercises, and adults have a glimpse of some of the work the children do each day.  For those of you as yet unfamiliar with what the elementary programme has to offer, it is an eye-opening introduction.  For parents of children participating, it is a joy to watch your child display their learning with pride and confidence. 

 We encourage all parents to attend, whether or not your child is presenting that evening.  It is one of the best ways to learn a bit about the Montessori programme.  Towards the end of the session, parents may have a chance to try the materials themselves.  Are you up for the challenge?
