Our Staff

Our educators play a vital role in creating the thoughtful, responsive environments that define a Montessori education.

Our low student-to-staff ratios allow our Montessori guides to know each child well, observe their individual development and provide lessons and experiences that respond to their readiness, interests and needs. Rather than directing every aspect of learning, the Montessori guide carefully observes, introduces new concepts, offers appropriate challenge and supports each child toward increasing independence.

Our lead Montessori guides hold recognized Montessori teaching credentials, including diplomas from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and/or Montessori teacher education programs accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).

All of our classroom assistants have completed Montessori training and work closely alongside our guides to support the children, maintain the prepared environment and ensure a consistent Montessori approach throughout the school.

Professional learning is an important part of our school culture. WMS actively supports ongoing professional development, and our educators regularly deepen their knowledge of Montessori practice, child development and effective teaching through continued training, workshops and collaborative learning.

Focus on Active Learning

Montessori education is active, purposeful and experiential. From the Toddler years through Adolescence, students learn by engaging directly with their environment, working with carefully chosen materials and experiences, asking questions, solving problems and applying their learning in meaningful ways.

At each developmental stage, the learning environment evolves to meet the needs of the student. Younger children build understanding through movement, sensory exploration and concrete materials, while older students increasingly engage in abstract thinking, collaborative work, interdisciplinary study, real-world application and independent inquiry.

Our Montessori guides observe closely, introduce lessons at the appropriate time and provide the support and challenge each student needs to continue progressing. Our low student-to-staff ratios allow educators to know their students well and respond thoughtfully to individual strengths, interests and areas for growth.

Through active learning, students develop concentration, independence, confidence, critical thinking and a genuine curiosity that continues to deepen as they move through each stage of their Montessori education.
